More news and new releases. Blue Plate Music has released "Live from Mountain Stage" featuring performances by John from 1994-6. Mel Bay has released an all-star compilation book/cd set named "2000 Banjo" that features a tune by John. Listen for John's fiddle playing in the upcoming Joel and Ethan Coen movie "Oh Brother!" expected to hit theaters in October. John plays "Man of Constant Sorrow" in the opening scene, his fiddle finishes the movie and he plays other parts scattered through the movie. The soundtrack features an all-star cast of bluegrass and old time musicians, most of whom performed a live show of the soundtrack at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville recently. A concert video is scheduled to be released from that show.
John's performance schedule has been updated to include upcoming Retrograss shows featuring David Grisman, and Mike Seeger.
