I saw him more than any other performer (17 times), met him twice, and have all of his music I have been able to locate (I'm still looking for some). He's why I have a banjo. I sought out the steamboat The Julia Belle Swain to pilot in 1979 because that was the boat John got his pilot's license on and sang about. (I had a pilot's license at the time too, thanks to the influence of my grandfather.) It's hard to realize how much this man influenced me. Thanks for everything, John.
